MAPRx Hosts Capitol Hill Briefing Urging Beneficiary Out-of-Pocket Cap

Earlier today, the MAPRx Coalition hosted a virtual briefing for members of Congress, their staff, and MAPRx member organizations.

After Corey Ford of Xcenda provided an overview of the Medicare Part D benefit, Illy Jaffer of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and Bari Talente of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society spoke to the costs incurred by beneficiaries in Part D and the need to cap those costs and establish a smoothing mechanism to allow beneficiaries to spread payments over the course of the year.

Finally, Howard Bedlin of the National Council on Aging highlighted further opportunities to improve Part D, including improving access to the low-income subsidy, improving the appeals process and beneficiary education about it, and coverage for obesity drugs in Part D.
