Medicare Open Enrollment for prescription drug coverage (Part D) takes place each year from October 15 through December 7. During this period, people with Medicare can join or change their Medicare drug plan for coverage beginning the following year.
Medicare Part D plans can change from year to year, including changes to covered drugs, costs and other plan requirements. Some plans may also leave the market. Even if your current plan worked well for you this year, it may not be the best fit for your prescription drug needs and budget next year.
Open Enrollment is an opportunity to review your current coverage, compare available plans and consider factors such as premiums, deductibles, prescription costs and whether your medications are covered.
