MAPRx Submits Letter to Senate Leaders on Inflation Reduction Act

Earlier today, the MAPRx Coalition and 35 member organizations submitted a letter to Senate leadership ahead of their continued consideration of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 via the Senate’s reconciliation process.

While members of the Coalition have differing views on other components of the expansive package, the Coalition and those signing the letter are in agreement on strongly supporting the following provisions:

  • Creating an out-of-pocket (OOP) cap on Medicare Part D costs with a monthly cap on total OOP spending;
  • Implementation of a “smoothing” mechanism allowing beneficiaries to spread high costs into multiple payments over the year;
  • Strengthening the Low-Income Subsidy (LIS) program;
  • Eliminating cost-sharing for Part D vaccines.
