MAPRx Letter to Congressional Leaders Supports Out-of-Pocket Cap
Earlier today, 29 members of the MAPRx Coalition sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to establish an out-of-pocket (OOP) cap for Medicare Part D to limit the amount Medicare beneficiaries have to pay for covered prescription drugs.
The Coalition continues to believe that the lack of an OOP cap is one of the biggest challenges for Part D beneficiaries, and one that is unique to them – individuals with commercial coverage have an OOP cap for all covered medical care. Additionally, the Coalition believes that an OOP cap should be coupled with a smoothing mechanism for beneficiaries to pay OOP costs over time.
In the House, the letter was sent to Chairman Richard Neal (D-MA) and Ranking Member Kevin Brady (R-TX) of the Committee on Ways & Means, Chairman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and Ranking Member Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) of the Committee on Energy & Commerce, and Chairman Bobby Scott (D-VA) and Ranking Member Virginia Foxx (R-NC) of the Committee on Education & Labor.
The Senate version of the letter was sent to Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-ID) of the Committee on Finance.
