The Annual Open Enrollment for Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D) happens every fall. For coverage in 2018, the open enrollment dates were October 15, 2017 – December 7, 2017. The annual open enrollment period is the one time each year that all people with Medicare can join or change their Medicare drug plan. Certain people with Medicare can also change plans at other times.

Each year plans make changes to Part D prescription drug benefits and costs, and also new plans are offered in many areas of the country.   Depending on the changes and your needs, your current plan may or may not be the best plan for you.  It is very important for Medicare Part D beneficiaries to use the annual open enrollment period to compare plan choices and find the plan that best meets prescription drug needs at the lowest cost.

Open enrollment for Medicare prescription drug coverage in 2019 is October 15, 2018 – December 7, 2018. In early October 2018, MAPRx will release its annual Open Enrollment Guide to assist beneficiaries in selecting a Part D plan for 2019.
